Colleen and Joey were planning a wedding and also planning to start a family around the same time. Joey was a firefighter, and they are both currently EMTs. They love the outdoors, and we were supposed to do a big adventure engagement session in Yosemite. Before that happened, Colleen got pregnant. Needless to say, life got extra busy for both of them, so instead of an engagement session, we decided we’d do a baby photoshoot after the wedding. This blog post is a mashup of the wedding from September, and their photoshoot with Baby Kennedy a couple months later.

I don’t normally do baby shoots, but Colleen and Joey had such a relaxed and fun energy, I knew it’d be a blast. As with wedding, I tried to keep it as natural and honest as possible. I wanted to capture the work-in-progress that is new parenthood, and all the emotions that come with that. I wanted to start this story with a couple photos from this shoot, before going backwards with their wedding photos at beautiful Chenoweth Woods in Sebastopol.

First Look Under the Redwoods:

Joey and Colleen did their first look at the venue. Even with the mid-day sun, we found some good light in the redwoods. In the middle of the first look, there was a minor wardrobe malfunction with Colleen’s dress. I think most brides would freak out a little bit. she just laughed it off and found some friends to help with a quick fix.
